The Balsam Lake Unmurders RPG

Play Your Cards Right, Catch the Necromancer. A Journaling Game of Method, Motive, and Opportunity In a Forested Minnesota Town.

From the back cover:

In a small town in the forested Minnesota hills someone is back from the dead. So now you're there, a lone FBI detective, to catch the criminal necromancer who did it. It's a nice town. Fishing for lake trout is pretty great. The diner serves a good cup of coffee. Hopefully you just do what you need to do and don't get too drawn in.

The Balsam Lake Unmurders is a journaling game. Playing cards represent suspect and interactions you have with them trying to discerern if they're the necromancer — and you write in your journal how they play out.

Quotes from people who've played:

"It's like Twin Peaks meets the X-Files." - Jason D'Angelo, playtester and author of The Daily Apocalypse

"It felt like moving into a living space." - Camilla Zamboni, after six hours caught up in Balsam Lake

"Even when I put the game down I keep turning it over and over in my mind." - Vincent Baker, creator of Apocalypse World

"Paul, I seriously loved this game." - Gabrielle Rabinowitz, playtester and co-creator of Ma Nishtana
